Back From Vacation!

Ok so I am new to this whole blogging thing but so many of my friends have blogs I thought I would give it a try. So here goes.

We got home late Saturday early Sunday morning at 2:30 in the morning. We loved our vacation but so glad to be home.
Some of the trip highlights:

Saturday Feb 9th:
We flew out of Detroit and arrived in Miami around 11:00. We took a taxi to the pier and were able to board the ship right away after going through the check in procedures. We had a quick lunch at the welcome aboard buffet and then went and checked out our rooms and explored the ship. We left port about 4 o'clock just as it started to rain. So we were worried that we would have crap weather the whole time but we seemed to stay a day ahead of the rain the entire trip.

Sunday Feb 10th Half Moon Cay:
Jermie's back and shoulders have been bothering him and the ship was running a special on Sunday for massages while on Half Moon Cay, so he got a massage while I relaxed on the beach. It was so nice to be able to just lay on the beach and have nothing to do or worry about.

Monday Feb 11 Day At Sea:
We slept in on Monday since we didn't have to get up early for any excursions or anything because of being at sea all day. So we did some more exploring of the ship and watched the onboard entertainment and layed out in the sun drinking some cocktails and relaxing. this was also our first formal night and I wore a dress I borrowed from my mom. We met this 76 year old woman who wanted to buy my dress from me in the worst way, she thought it would look better on a red head. She was a riot and I can only hope I am as much fun as her when I am that age!!

Tuesday Feb 12 St Thomas:
St Thomas was our favorite island of all our our stops. We wandered around town before our excursion and did some shopping. We experienced some "Liquid Sunshine" while we waited to leave on our sail and snorkel but luckily it all cleared up before we set sail. We sailed to Buck Island where we saw lots of sea life and even a sunken cargo ship that had been running drugs. Because of the time that we left for snorkeling we didn't have time for lunch so after spending the afternoon snorkeling and not having anything to eat since breakfast we were pretty tipsy after partaking in the unlimited rum punch we were offered after snorkeling. Once we were back on St Thomas the guys wanted to go to Hooters for lunch so we had some wings and some drinks. Afterwards it was getting close to sunset so we took the skyride up to Paradise Point for amazing views of the harbor and the island and watched a gorgeous sunset. Before heading back down we stopped and had a famous Baileys Bushwacker. Umm Yummy!!! Lobster tail for dinner, Jermie ate 4. He only ordered one and he was telling us when he was done with it that he should have ordered 2 and the next thing we know the waiters are bringing him another, and another and then another. He was so full afterwards he could barely move.

Wedensday Feb 13 San Juan Puerto Rico:
So San Juan is a very busy bustling city with lots to see and do. We didn't plan any excursions for San Juan so we just walked around town on our own. While we were wandering we ran into some locals that offered horse and buggy rides around the city so having nothing better to do we decided to take them up on the offer. We saw sites like the fort and castle, the capitol building and other points of interest on our tour. After the tour we did some more shopping and then headed back to the ship. The one really nice thing about San Juan was the liquor prices were so cheap. We picked up a liter of 1800 Tequila for $20 and a liter of Parrot bay for $10 before getting back on the ship what a deal. I can't wait to make some margaritas with the 1800. We did some gambling at the slots I was up $20 at one point but we got addicted to a game and lost it all better luck next time.

Thursday Feb 14th Grand Turk:
Jermie's birthday!!! Early in the week we were told that our semi submersible and snorkel excursion had been cancelled. so we booked a sail and swim to do on grand turk instead. We got to port late because of the weather. Our excursion wasn't scheduled to leave until 2:45 so we explored the shops and town. Then around 1:00 we went back to the ship to leave our shopping bags in our cabin and get some lunch. At 2:15 just before we were going to go to shore to meet up for our excursion we were informed it had been cancelled. Because the Beach and the margaritaville Pool were already packed from people who didn't have anything scheduled we stayed on the ship for the rest of the time we were in port. Which turned out to be great because we had front row seat at the pool and the water slide was not busy. We also got monkey head drinks. Today was also our second formal night which Jermie was excited about because it was his birthday and Valentines day! Jermie had roses delivered to the room for me and we enjoyed dinner. I ordered him a birthday cake and the waiters called him Mr Valentino all night long and sang him Happy Birthday. The cake was delicious

Friday Feb 15 Day at sea:
So hard to believe how fast the week went. The day at sea was another great relaxing day. we bought some pictures at the photo shop and I laid out in the sun all day. Jermie was sick of the sun by that point so he and Bob played arcade games all afternoon. We enjoyed our last lunch on the ship took a nap did some packing and went to our last dinner. It was sad to say goodbye to our waiters Rommel and Raneldo they kept us laughing and entertained all week. We went to the Carnival Legends show and took one last stroll along the deck of the ship in the moonlight.

Saturday Feb 16th Coming home:
By Saturday we were ready to come home we missed our own bed and Maizie and the cats. What a long day it turned into though. We got up at 5:30 in the morning after not going to bed until 1:30 the night before. We had an excursion booked because our flight wasn't until 5:45 that evening. Somehow the ships staff wasn't to sure who should get off the ship and when so we ended up waiting an 1hr and 1/2 for the others on the ship to go through customs before we could leave. Because of this our time at the seaquarim went from 4 hours to 2 hours. We were not very happy about this. Then we got to the airport and found out that our flight had been changed from 5:45 to 7:45 so we had 6 hours to kill at the airport. We finally got into detroit at 10:45 that evening and didn't get home until 2:30 in the morning.

All in all it was a great trip however Jermie, Sandra, and I all agreed we liked Royal Caribbean better. When we get our pictures developed I will get some put up online. Hope you all enjoyed the short version of the trip!
